Hey folks!
We just got back from a two-week vacation in Lynden, San Juan Islands, and Seattle.
Prepare for a long blog post.
When we arrived in Lynden, we greeted the babies... For six days. In fact, we didn't do much but hang out with babies and run errands most of the time. It was fun. The second week had some highlights. On Monday we visited the San Juan islands, specifically Friday Harbor. We walked around town and then drove over to Lime Kiln park and saw pods and pods of killer whales (orcas). They were awesome. We then took the ferry back (the most popular mode of transportation to the mainland) to Anacortes, then returned to Lynden late that night.

We hung out with the Vander Veen's at home for the next few days. Then we took a trip to the Birch Bay water slides. It's a decent-sized water park, just water slides. It includes a 60-foot complete drop slide, some smaller fun slides, and a sweet beach volleyball court. I drove to Rite Aid to pick up a volleyball because ours was at home. Then Becky and I played volleyball for the next hour. The sand was really hot but we barely noticed because it was really fun. Especially since we were Americans battling Brazil for Olympic gold.
After Birch Bay we drove along the ocean, viewing the sights. Then we went home and ordered Bob's Burger and Brew burgers. I don't think a bacon burger ever tasted so good.
In the days following Birch Bay, we attended the Lynden Fair, which was a blast. Caleb (my 2-year old nephew) loved the farm animals and was pointing at everything. He slept really good that night.
But all this fun was just setting the stage for the best part of our trip: A Bethel Music concert. Seriously. If you have not heard any of their songs then go look them up. I've heard the excuse of "That's not my style of music." I think that worship should be everyone's 'style of music.' John 4:23 says, 'But the hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth; and indeed the Father seeks such people to worship him.'
That concert was true worship. I was crying by the second song, and that's a big deal. The only two movies to ever make me cry were obviously The Passion of the Christ and Inside Out when Bing Bong dies. Anyway, I was sobbing my face off to the Lion and the Lamb. It was beautiful. The people behind me were singing spontaneous worship during quiet moments. You might say that the 2,500+ people packed into Paramount Theatre were under the influence of the Holy Spirit. There was laughing in the room, crying, and speaking in tongues. It was beautiful. I remember looking over at Rebecca and my mom, with their hands lifted high, and wanting nothing. Literally nothing except Jesus. I had never felt that way before; there has always been something more that will just make my life better. Something that will make my side of the fence a little greener. What I hadn't realized is that Jesus, infilling and overflowing me with his Holy Spirit at that concert, fertilized my whole lawn. If I could use one word to describe our trip as a whole:
